The CBSL governor explained why the 30th was designated as a bank holiday

The Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, made a special statement today regarding the announcement of Friday, June 30 as a special bank holiday.

He said that this decision was taken in consultation with the government due to the 

 

fact that there are a lot of tasks to be done regarding the optimization of local debt.

He also said that there will be no crisis regarding the stability of the banking system and deposits.
