Flash Health, a Sri Lankan healthtech startup delivering cashless, on-demand outpatient care, has raised US$200,000 in seed funding, led by nVentures, with participation from angel investors based in Sri Lanka, Singapore, and the United States.
The funding comes as Flash Health continues to expand its presence across insurance providers, large employers, and healthcare institutions, positioning itself as one of Sri Lanka’s most widely adopted digital outpatient platforms addressing everyday healthcare needs.
At the core of Flash Health’s offering is Cashless OPD, a solution that enables employees and policyholders to access doctor consultations, medicines, diagnostics, and telemedicine services without upfront payments. By removing out-of-pocket expenses at the point of care, the platform addresses a long-standing friction point in outpatient healthcare across emerging markets.
The innovation has gained international recognition, with Cashless OPD winning at the World Summit Awards, a United Nations–backed global platform recognising digital solutions that advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The award was selected from more than 900 applications across 143 countries.
Commenting on the investment, Chalinda Abeykoon, Managing Partner at nVentures, said that the firm first engaged with the Flash Health team in late 2023 and was immediately impressed by its culture, attention to detail, and execution discipline. He noted that the team’s ability to listen, iterate, and deliver at scale made the investment a clear decision as the platform demonstrated real-world adoption and operational maturity.
Flash Health’s growth has been driven by strategic partnerships with leading insurers, including AIA, HNB Assurance, Janashakthi Insurance, and Union Assurance, enabling policyholders to access medicine delivery, home laboratory testing, telemedicine consultations, and wellness incentives through integrated digital workflows.
On the enterprise front, the platform is trusted by organisations such as Akbar Brothers, Sri Lanka Cricket, SriLankan Airlines, Hidramani, and several others, reinforcing Flash Health’s position as a reliable healthcare partner for employee wellbeing and medical access.
Reflecting on the company’s broader mission, Arshad Ameer, Founder of Flash Health, said the startup aims to make healthcare more human, accessible, and effortless. He added that by removing friction from care delivery, Flash Health seeks to improve health outcomes, quality of life, and peace of mind, while building a system where healthcare reaches people rather than requiring people to navigate complex systems.
Responding to Sri Lanka’s ageing population and the growing demand for home-based care, Flash Health has also partnered with MediHelp Hospital to launch a Homecare Service, allowing patients to receive nursing, physiotherapy, and medical support at home.
The platform’s impact was particularly evident during the recent flooding caused by Cyclone Ditwah, when Flash Health activated its Doctor Hotline free of charge, managed over 500 medical inquiries, prioritised medicine deliveries to accessible flood-affected areas, supported essential medicine distribution in coordination with the Sri Lanka Red Cross, and reached more than 75,000 people with public health guidance—highlighting the critical role of digital outpatient infrastructure during times of crisis.
